WE WE"RE RIGHT!!!

A few months ago we added our prospective cover art section to the website. On this page we post what we think the cover for an upcoming DVD release will look like. Up until now no DVDs that we made the cover for had been given an official cover. But, today the cover art for Nurse Jackie Season 2 was released and almost everything we did, they did. The only difference in covers is the "Holy Shift" phrase being moved below the Nurse Jackie Title.

Here's the official one released today:

Nurse Jackie: Season Two

Sarah Silverman "The Bedwetter" Review

5.0 out of 5 stars Let's Put it this Way- I Wet Myself LaugingJuly 30, 2010

Alright, not really, but I came extremely close. When I went into my bookstore to buy this (Because I am a fan of her Comedy Central Show) I looked under humor. I thought that this was a filled with funny (and fictional) stories of courage, redemption, and pee. I was wrong, it was under the biography section. At first I thought that this was going to be a humorous outlook on her mundane childhood. Needless to say, I was wrong, again.

In the "The Bedwetter" Silverman writes (in a hilarious way) about her very tough childhood. Yes she keeps her usuals jokes about body hair, cursing, and poop. But beneath this funny story and hilarious comedian is a true, touching, and heartfelt story that shows us that to redeem herself and get where she is, it took courage (and the ability to stop peeing).

*Here Be Spoilers!*
Sarah started being funny at a young age, receiving adult laughter via cursing (as taught by her father). She tells us that the first time she bombed was at the young age of about 6. She received no laughter when she told an inappropriate joke about her brother who died at the young age of two. She also reveals that she wet the bed until about 15 or 16. Her severe bed wetting problem, combined with her parents divorce, brother's death, etc. put her in a sever depression in most of her teenage years. It came to a point where she was on 16 Xanax a day. But, just like the title says, she redeemed herself. And became quite successful.

All-in-all, "The Bedwetter" is a true, touching, and hilarious story that will literally make you laugh and cry. It's definitely worth the read.

Robyn "Body Talk Part 1" Review

5.0 out of 5 stars I've Got Some News For You, July 9, 2010
This review is from: Body Talk Pt 1 (Audio CD)
She started out a teen pop star. She created tunes that everyone would dance to at their Middle School Dance. But, just like anyone, she had to grow up. But instead of doing it like today's pop stars, she did it gracefully. Transitioning from her debut album's sweet, pre-teen songs to deep and meaningful songs (in her second album "My Truth" Robyn sang about an abortion she had in her earlier teens). She gracefully transformed from sweet, poppy Robyn to Robyn, a woman whose songs can make you laugh and shed a tear all in 35 minutes. A woman who mixes sweet vocals with ridged, techno beats. Instead of screaming and dressing up like a slutty Big Bird (Miley Cyrus, no offense to fans of Miley) she started to show how wonderful she can really be (not that Robyn wasn't wonderful to begin with). Her comeback album "Robyn (2005-2008)" mixed cheerful, upbeat music with reluctant, amazing ballads. And now the dance hall queen is back to show us why she sits in that throne.

The albums opener "Don't F***ing Tell Me What To Do" is Robyn simply complaining about lives everyday, annoying, true problems. If it were anyone else I would say "shut up, stop complaining" but Robyn tells us about these troubles in such a simplistic and truthful way that it almost sounds like she's speaking for the rest of us, not just herself. Then comes "Fembot." Robyn talks about how women are treated like robots, which in many cases is true. She raps about how she is "fresh out the box," she's "the latest model" with "automatic booty applications." It's a fun, catchy, feministic proclamation that she does have feelings, she's not made out of metal. Next on Robyn's Body Talking Lineup is "Dancing On My Own." In this song Robyn describes a situation many of have been in. Watching the person we want with someone. She sings about the tough fact that no matter how hard she tries, this won't change. But she will press on, she'll dance alone, and in the end smile. Then comes "Cry When You Get Older." Amazon's review sees this song has a sister to sibling point of view. But in a way, I see it has a note to self. She's telling herself that this is not the end, somewhat of a follow up to "Dancing On My Own."

"Dancehall Queen" is a song that may also relate to "Dancing On My Own" or "Fembot" because in a way she is saying that "you did this to yourself. Leave me alone, its not my fault you broke my heart. Maybe you forgot, but this is my space, and you're not ruining it. Remember, I'm the queen of my own land, and my own heart. And you're not entering either." "None of Dem" is a song from the point of view of an outcast. Almost like a kid entering a new school, where no one understands you or you're personality. Where "none of dem get your style" or can dance at your standards. "Hang With Me" is a song that finally shows Robyn opening up her heart, but not too much, just enough to hang with her. Finally, "Jag Vet En Delig Rosa" is a song that reminds us where Robyn began, Sweden. She reminds us of her Swedish roots through her version of this Swedish version.

All in all, Robyn has made yet another musical masterpiece. Robyn has some news for us: she's still at the top of her game and won't be falling off anytime soon.

Natasha Bedingfield "Touch"

Natasha Bedingfield never seems to fail. She has a soulful, poppy voice and a wonderful message encoded in her songs. The great voice and message are clearly evident in her new song "Touch." The new single is now available on itunes as of today. A release date and name for the album is still unknown, but this new song is a clear sign that it is gonna be great!

The Unusuals Available on DVD

After 3 months, finally The Unusuals came out on DVD. I posted some pictures of the DVD on the amazon.com page of the product. You can either see them on the Unusuals page or on the slide show on the side of the website.

"Just a Pocketful of Sunshine" Natasha Bedingfield Pocketful Of Sunshine Review

"I gotta pocket, gotta pocketful of sunshine" That is the beginning to the title track of Natasha Bedingfield's 2nd album. The album itself really is a pocketful of sunshine. The vibrant, poppy tone that is mixed with a good message is part of what makes Ms. Bedingfield's music so enjoyable. The opening track "Put Your Arms Around Me" shows that the album is going to be good. With all of the songs mixed together, it is evident that Natasha didn't hit the "sophomore slump." However, each song is different. A different beat, almost a different genre. Each song manages to tell a story in a new, wonderful way. Whether it is the jazzy tone of "Peace of Your Heart" or the reggae-like beat of "Love Like This" the album puts you in a great mood.

The Second Half of Eureka On DVD

It's certainly been long enough, but Eureka Season 3.5 will be released on DVD on June 20th, 2010. I really love the show, but the half season releases are pretty annoying. Yeah, I'll buy the DVD because I didn't really see season 3.5, but really just put a 4 disc set out!

"Betty Goes Bye-Bye" Ugly Betty Season 4 Review

It was Thursday night in September. The weather was nice, not too cold, not too warm. TV on the other hand, well, at that point its Thursday line-up had a lot to be desired. So I turned on Wheel of Fortune to see if the woman who was up $10,000 would hit the bankrupt slot or guess that the answer was "Granny's Homemade Apple Pie." Usually I would flip through the channels during commercial breaks, but like I said there was nothing else on. And then I saw a commercial that caught my attention. Popping up on the screen of my television was a 20-some odd girl with big blue braces, red glasses, and frizzy hair. "Ugly Betty! The world premiere at 8/7 central!" the narrator declared. And I decided to watch. 9 months 11 months later I found myself purchasing Ugly Betty - The Complete First Season and then 14 months later I purchased Ugly Betty: The Complete Second Season and then a year and a half later I purchased Ugly Betty: Season 3 and then I found myself watching season season 4.

And it wasn't too long before I found myself reading on Wikipedia that the brilliant, award-winning show was cancelled by ABC. Once again, ABC cancelled a great show. At least we got four seasons out of this one. But before I continue I just have to put this out there, SPOILER ALERT! In season 4 we open up with Betty getting her braces removed, but of course it was just a dream. We see her getting her new job has a junior-editor. We see her getting back together with Matt (with whom she broke up with in the season 3 finale). And as we go on further into the season seeing her house burn down. We see a lot more, and with only four episodes left, I just hope that "Ugly Betty" ends as good as it began.

And now to the DVD. The box set will most likely consist of 5 discs. Special features will probably include commentary, either video or audio, featurettes, and webisodes of "Mode After Dark."

"Welcome to the Deep End" The Deep End Season 1 Review

This review is from: The Deep End (DVD)
ABC is infamous for some pretty good law shows (Boston Legal, The Practice). So for me, The Deep End had some pretty high expectations to live up two. And it surpassed everyone. Although the first season was only 6 episodes, it was able to make its mark on me. The show begins with 5 law school graduates applying to become lawyers at Sterling, Huddle, Oppenheim & Craft. They all get the job, but they soon realize that working at Sterling is going to be anything but easy. Let's just hope that this show isn't cancelled prematurely like the other great shows on ABC.

Now to the DVD. Here is what we know, the season is 6 episodes long. This means that most likely the DVD set will be 1 or 2 discs. In the special features section, commentaries will almost definantly be included. This is because ABC already includes the option to watch the episodes on their website with commentary.

"An Extra Ordinary Series" Extras Review

*Before you read anymore of this review, please excuse the corny pun in the title* I was hesitant about watching this series, mainly because I didn't see much of Rickey Gervais' work, but hte work I saw I didn't like that much. But when some of the episodes were on HBO I started to watch. And I started to laugh. The show was very funny. Whether it was the bubbly and eager additude of Andy (Gervais) or the bumbling wit of Maggie (Ugly Betty's Ashley Jensen). As for the DVD itself, the packaging persists of nice artwork in an accessible style. Inside of the package is seasons (or series) one and two and the "Extra Special" series finale. Each season contains 6 episodes. Each season features those six episodes on two discs. The quality of the picture is outstanding. If you are, or were, a fan of the show this purchase is definitely worth it.

The Unusuals-DVD

Finally, the complete series of The Unusuals will be on DVD. The great, short lived TV now on dvd is on amazon.com. Here's the link:

"Psych! Psych Season 4 Review

What can I say about such a series, I could call it funny, witty, and wonderful. But using these words almost under-minds how great a show Psych is. It has such interesting, funny plot lines that may keep you on the edge of your seat while laughing. The show follows fake-psychic detective Shawn Spencer has he solves cases for the police department as well as others. But he can't do this alone. He gets help from his reluctant partner Gus, Junior Detective Juliet O'Hara, his dad Henry, extremely doubting detective Carlton Lassiter, and police chief Karen Vick. Season 4, itself, starts out with a great opener (Episode 4.1 Expedition British Columbia) in which Gus and Shawn take a trip to Canada for some fun, but Shawn can't help but to solve another crime using his fake psychic and real detective skills. And then there are more great episodes. But one of my personal favorites is episode 4.7 High Top Fade Out, where we learn a little more about Gus. We learn that he was in a college acapella band. And things get a little crazy when one of his ex-band mates is murdered. And then the fall finale episode 4.9 Shawn Takes a Shot in the Dark. Maybe the most exciting episodes in the series, the fall finale shows Shawn being kidnapped by- well I won't ruin the surprise for you- and everyone of his friends and co-workers pool together to find him and solve the case.

But this isn't just a review of the season, but a review of the DVD. Well, that is kind of hard when the DVD hasn't even been released. But there are some things that we do know. The first thing is that the box set will be 16 episodes on 4 discs (4 episodes on each disc). If Universal is consistent with the last three box sets, there will be commentaries on select episodes. And podcast commentaries on other select episodes. Then gag reels and psych-outs.
